Part of The Tsai Leadership Program at Yale Law School, the Michael S. and Alexa B. Chae Initiative in Private Sector Leadership will provide focused educational and professional support for Law School students who wish to pursue non-traditional leadership roles in the private sector. It prepares students for careers in areas such as business, finance, investing, consulting, and entrepreneurship.

Many Law School alumni find careers in the private sector outside of traditional lawyering. The Chae Initiative illuminates these paths by teaching students to be numerate as well as literate. It offers a holistic training in the values, ethics, skills, and theories of management and leadership across a wide array of private sector organizations.

About the Initiative

The core aim of the Private Sector Initiative is to train wide-ranging, professionally skilled, ethical thinkers who can address the business challenges of the future.

Chae Fellows will be able to take advantage of the intellectual training provided through The Tsai Leadership Program and the Law School generally, including courses on finance, statistics, accounting, financial modeling, machine learning, big data, and technological change. The Program will augment the Law School’s traditional course offerings with programming designed to train ethical business leaders of the future, a robust mentoring program, and a curated alumni network to guide them on their future paths.
